Located on Main Street in  Wolfville, we are close to Acadia University and the Atlantic Theatre Festival. As a general bookshop we carry as many different and interesting titles as we can.  We do focus on local history, children’s books, and fiction but tend to have a ‘little bit of everything’.

We also carry cards, calendars, journals, and bookmarks.  If something is remotely linked to the literary world,  we might just have it.

A Brief History

The Box of Delights Bookshop was incorporated in 1976. It is named for John Masefield’s  children’s fantasy novel ‘The Box of Delights’, published in 1935, which became standard fare at Christmas on BBC radio.  Growing up in England, the book was the favorite of the store’s original owner Hilary Sircom.   She initially opened The Box of Delights in her home in Hantsport as a children’s bookshop.  The current shop still boasts the playhouse her children used and has been claimed by another two generations.
The store was relocated to Main Street, Wolfville and expanded to become a general bookstore in 1976.

We (the DeWolfe family) purchased The Box of Delights Bookshop in 1991.  We computerized, updated, and revamped.  We continue to be a mainstay in the hub of Wolfville, offering a wide selection of books, cards, and calendars, as well as, good conversation and information.

Our vision is a continued and increasing commitment to support literacy for all; thereby providing access to social, civic and economic opportunities, in our community, our country, and our world.
